What Are Migraines?

Migraine is a neurological condition, and every person's triggers are different. Neck tension, sleep, stress, hormones, food and dehydration can all play a role. Our care complements, rather than replaces, medical management.

Common Symptoms

  • Throbbing head pain, often on one side
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Sensitivity to light, sound or smells
  • Visual aura
  • Neck pain before or during attacks
  • Fatigue after an attack

Common Contributing Factors

  • Genetic predisposition
  • Sleep disruption and stress
  • Hormonal changes
  • Certain foods, alcohol or skipped meals
  • Neck and shoulder tension

When to Seek Medical Care Right Away

Seek emergency care for a sudden, severe headache unlike any before, headache with weakness, confusion, trouble speaking, fever with stiff neck, or after a head injury.

How We Approach Migraines

Migraines are often misunderstood; we believe your experience and track your pattern with you. We look for every contributing factor, including neck mechanics, sleep, stress, hormones and nutrition, and build a plan with you that fits your life. We coordinate with your medical provider.

  • Restoring the movements you use every day. We retrain screen work, exercise and daily routines without triggering attacks, so progress shows up in your real life, not just on the treatment table.
  • Constant core activation. Postural and deep neck activation to reduce neck-driven triggers.
  • Proper functional movement patterns. We coach how you hinge, squat, push, pull, carry, step and rotate, so load is shared across the whole body instead of piling up in one area.
  • Proper respiratory mechanics. Diaphragm breathing and nervous-system calming techniques to use at the first warning signs.
  • Looking past the symptoms. Especially with severe or long-standing problems, we take the time to consider every potential cause, including sleep, stress, hormones, nutrition, hydration and neck function.
  • A plan built for you. Nobody is built the same or has been through the same things, so no two treatment plans are alike. Your plan is shaped around your history, your goals and how you respond.

How Our Services Help

Chiropractic Care

Gentle neck and upper back care can reduce neck tension that contributes to attacks.

Massage Therapy

Massage can relieve neck and shoulder tension between attacks.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has good evidence for reducing migraine frequency for many people.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback trains nervous-system regulation and may help with stress and sleep-related triggers.

Functional Medicine

Functional medicine can look at hormones, inflammation and other contributors.

Nutritional Counseling

Nutritional counseling helps identify food and routine triggers.

Most plans combine two or more of these services, chosen together with you, and your providers share one plan so every visit builds on the last.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can acupuncture help migraines?

Research shows acupuncture can reduce migraine frequency for many people and it is often used alongside medical care.

Will you replace my migraine medication?

No. We work alongside your physician; any medication changes should be made with them.

Should I keep a headache diary?

Yes. Tracking sleep, food, stress and cycles helps us find patterns together.

Do I need a referral, and do you take insurance?

No referral is needed. We accept health insurance as an out-of-network provider, as well as auto insurance claims and workers’ compensation claims, and every service can also be paid directly or through a monthly membership. Call (303) 465-6332 or request a free consultation to get started.
